The farm project area is based on the Estate's home farm area. Clinton Devon Farms organically farms 2,500 acres, an area similar to 2000 football pitches. The team of eight people run a mixed farming unit.
Two dairy herds consist of 400 cows, these are milked twice a day. . Our sheep unit provides lamb for supermarkets and breeding pedigree Texel lambs for sale as breeding stock and showing. The unit also has over 1,500 acres of arable ground growing wheat, oats and barley.
Areas of the farm have been planted with trees under Farm Woodland Grant Schemes and conservation strips along the River Otter are also under Countryside Stewardship. Under these schemes the farm receives government funding to manage them for environmental benefits.
Did you know that Clinton Devon Estates produces:
- 7 million pints of milk for the fresh milk market
- Enough wheat to make 1.5 million loaves of bread and 3 million packets of biscuits.
